Position Summary and Responsibilities:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for performing highly specialized accounting work required to maintain the Company’s general ledger and financial reports. Working under the direction of the Director of Accounting, the Accounting Manager directs and coordinates the daily activities of the accounting staff to record the revenues, expenditures, assets, and liabilities of the Company quickly and accurately. The incumbent should be a highly motivated self-starter with supervisory, review, and proofing experience. The incumbent is also responsible for preparing monthly and annual financial statements and supporting the Company’s annual audit. This position works on major assignments when such assignments arise.

  • Train and develop the accounting staff.
  • Supervises, directs, and reviews the work of the accounting staff in a timely manner (including, but not limited to, cash reconciliations, fixed asset activity, recording of revenue and expenses, etc.)
  • Complete management functions to ensure detailed records and files are kept as required.
  • Acts as a liaison to corporate and division personnel to resolve complex accounting issues or assist with requests.
  • Reviews general ledger monthly to ensure accuracy of posting.
  • Coordinates monthly, quarterly, and annual closing activities.
  • Prepares and reviews financial statements and internal reports.
  • Makes and implements recommendations to improve accounting processes and internal controls, including documentation and training.
  • Perform user acceptance testing for system issues and enhancements as needed.
  • Support internal and external audit as needed. 
  • Perform additional duties as requested by management.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in Accounting required
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred
  • At least five years of experience in the areas of financial statement preparation, budgeting, reconciliations, fixed assets, accounts payable, and accounts receivable, or the equivalent.
  • At least 2 years supervisory experience
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Ability to develop and establish financial policies and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and to prepare accurate reports in a timely fashion.
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power BI; 10 key by touch)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to work effectively under stressful conditions.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and sound judgment and to react with discretion under varying conditions.
  • Ability to work independently, with little supervision.
  • Ability to work individually and cooperatively as a member of the leadership team
  • Advanced prioritization, problem-solving, and analytical skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
