Performs supervisory and administrative functions within the Delivery Department by performing the following duties. • Trains new and existing delivery drivers in the proper delivery procedure. Training includes routes, double check procedure, checkup procedure, pre-trip inspection, shortages, mispick's, returns, etc. • Work with Transportation Manager to learn all task associated with Delivery department. • Responsible for maintaining compliance with the Fleet Safety Manual. Perform driver ride with and evaluate drivers based on Fleet Safety criteria and customer service. • Maintain records relating to Fleet Safety policy and perform periodic reports to management on accidents. • Review driver eligibility once a year and as needed to ensure each driver remains in compliance with Fleet Safety Manual. • Assist in the accident investigation and determining if accident is preventable/non-preventable. Analyze each accident to determine what can be done to prevent similar occurrences. • Responsible for ensuring D.O.T. physicals, drug and alcohol tests are performed as necessary. Proper documentation along with a spreadsheet documenting the current status must be maintained. • Keep abreast of all DOT regulations and notify Transportation Manager of non-compliance. • Maintain Commercial Driver Certification folders ensuring that all required documents are on file and maintained keeping all drivers current and certified by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT). • Coordinate driver physicals and random drug screens with local health care providers. • Maintain vehicle accident log, drug screen information, DOT physicals, etc. • Maintain CDL log books, keep filed and folders made. • Responsible for auditing driver log books, identifying issues, educating on proper completion, and necessary corrections made. • Retain copy of DVCR's and keep extra copies prepared. Follow up on DVCR's to ensure problems are corrected in a timely manner and the fleet remains safe. • Prepare weekly trip records to include entering miles and hours into Target Data System on a daily basis. • Evaluate routes for optimal efficiency and discuss potential changes with Transportation Manager and Sales Manager. • Deliver routes on an as needed basis. • Must be comfortable in scheduling routes on route assignment schedule and make modifications as necessary. • Responsible for alignment of customers on routes in the absence of Transportation Manager. • Adjust delivery schedules to accommodate holidays; both company and customer holidays. School holidays require advance and intense planning. • Work with DSR's & Sales Manager in determining alignment of routes. • Review driver's route sheets first thing each morning for shortages and mistakes. Coordinate with salesman and buyers to get product back to customers as soon as possible. • Must have cell phone for availability. Cell phone should be kept nearby 24 hours per day, seven days a week. The vibration option should be used in circumstances where the audible alarm is inappropriate. • Purchase both on road and off road diesel fuel in the absence of the Transportation Manager. • Complete Service/Repair authorization form to initiate maintenance action in Manager Plus - System. • Responsible for insuring delivery equipment (trucks, trailers, hand trucks, ramps) is properly maintained. • Deliver odd routes that are not established on a regular basis as needed. • Must be well adverse to all pertinent DOT regulations. • Negotiate rates and contract with common carriers for freight that cannot cost effectively be hauled by our fleet of trucks. • Complete walk around inspection before beginning every route. • Properly complete route sheet for every route. • Responsible for insuring that the truck, hand trucks, and other related delivery equipment are maintained and kept in good working condition. Take corrective action as instructed. • Deliver product in good condition to our customers. • If a problem arises between you and the customer, report it to your supervisor. Never irritate a customer. Your ultimate responsibility is customer satisfaction. Disregard of this responsibility is grounds for dismissal. • Must be willing to work in other departments when the work load in the delivery department is slack. • Fuel trucks on regular intervals. • Speeding violations are the responsibility of the driver. • Serve as backup on Peachtree Logistics. • Assist in preparation of budget for Delivery department in a timely manner. Responsible and accountable for adherence to approved budget and expenditures. • Responsible for reviewing all legally binding documents in accordance with Operational Policy 179, Legal Review of Documents and submit to Vice President of the Division for review and submission to President and CEO for execution of the agreement. • Submit documentation (Training Certificate, etc.) to Human Resources on any training attended or attended by a subordinate team member (i.e. on-site training, seminars, web-based training, or any other forms of training not mentioned here). A copy of the training documentation will be maintained by Human Resources in the team member's personnel file. • Responsible for training and ensuring all delivery team members are completely knowledgeable of the USDOT, FMCSA, and AL. Department of Public Safety regulations and remain in compliance with regulations. • Train existing team members and new team members during orientation on the driver's responsibility for self-certification and role in the same. Maintain documentation of the training. • Develop a spreadsheet to track the progress and completion of the self-certified requirements of each driver and their next compliance due date accessible by Transportation Manager, Transportation Supervisor, HR Manager, and any Officer of the company. • Responsible for ensuring we have signed and fully executed agreements with most any third party relationship, with few exceptions (i.e., brokerage companies, general contractors, consultant, service providers, janitorial companies, truck washing company, etc.). Ensure all agreements are approved in accordance with Operational Policy 179, Legal Review of Documents. Scan and save a copy of the executed agreement on the server. • Receive request for accrued time off approve or deny, place on scheduled time off folder, save request in scheduled time off folder, enter time in accrued tracking spreadsheet. • Schedule backhaul appointments in Target as necessary. • File driver logs on a daily basis. • File DVCR's on a daily basis. • Track & hold fuel cards. • Retrieve keys from truck on Friday's and place keys in wash box. • Inspect yard on a daily basis to ensure trucks, trailers, and hand trucks are in working order free from damage, cleanliness, etc. • Save daily trip records, sort by truck, enter mileage in Target, mail records to Ryder & Penske weekly. • Enter hours worked in Auburn and Birmingham for Occupational Tax purposes. • Maintain driver assigned route spreadsheet for training, planning, and bench strength purposes. • Your ultimate responsibility is customer satisfaction and company profitability. • Directly supervises 20- 30 employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet Software, Target Data Systems, Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software. • Must be at least 21 years of age. • Class "A" Commercial Driver's License • Preferably a "Motor Vehicle Record" with no major violations in the last 3 years. Must pass a pre-employment drug test before job confirmation. • Must be a trained supervisor for determining controlled substance behavior in subordinates according to 382.603 of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation. • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); with one to three years related supervisory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Driver safety is important to Ben E. Keith. We use dash cameras which leverage artificial intelligence to recognize safe driving, capture safety events and improve driver safety performance. The videos are also used to exonerate drivers in accidents. All drivers sign a driver consent form upon hire to confirm their understanding
