Position Summary and Responsibilities:

The Platform Engineer II is responsible for lifecycle management duties of Ben E. Keith’s hybrid-cloud infrastructure platforms, including virtual and physical servers, middleware services, backup services, and enterprise monitoring services. Lifecycle management duties are focused on deployment, support/maintenance, and decommissioning of technologies as they evolve. The Platform Engineer II must serve as a member of a team and be willing to learn, coach and mentor other team members on various technologies. The successful candidate will be a self-starter and have excellent knowledge and skills with Microsoft operating systems, AHV, and Azure cloud services.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily operational support of hybrid-cloud server infrastructure
  • Manage critical infrastructure services including Active Directory, DNS, monitoring, and system backups
  • Manage cloud infrastructure services including accounts/subscriptions, IAM, networks, load balancers
  • Oversee and manage multi-cloud environments by developing and enforcing policies, implementing resource tagging standards, optimizing costs through FinOps practices, and ensuring robust cloud governance
  • Manage traditional infrastructure including physical and virtual servers, SAN and load balancers
  • Develop and maintain script automation using tools such as PowerShell and Bicep to streamline service delivery and enhance support efficiency
  • Design and implement highly available systems within a hybrid-cloud environment to ensure reliability, scalability, and minimal service disruption
  • Establish and maintain documentation, including how-to articles and technical application diagrams
  • Support acquisitions including configurations, monitoring and preventative maintenance
  • Provide daily support to application and operations teams by maintaining effective production and test environments

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or commensurate experience
  • 7+ years of experience with building and supporting hybrid-cloud infrastructure
  • 5+ years of experience designing highly available Azure cloud infrastructure
  • 5+ years of experience managing enterprise backup technologies (HYCU is preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience with virtualization platforms, including AHV, VMware utilizing vSphere, Operations Manager, and vMotion
  • 3+ years of experience managing multi-cloud environments, including policy development, resource tagging, cost optimization (FinOps), and cloud governance
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with script automation using tools such as PowerShell and Bicep to accelerate service delivery and improve support operations
  • 3+ years of experience designing and implementing highly available systems in hybrid-cloud environments to support business continuity and scalability
  • 3+ years of experience with HCI hardware technologies (Nutanix is preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience engineering resilient systems and participating in enterprise disaster recovery planning
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to work with team members and business units
  • Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly terminology
  • Must be able to work on-call as needed to support technologies that drive the business
