Senator Cornyn visits Ben E. Keith Foods in Amarillo

Date: December 5, 2007

U.S. Senator John Cornyn toured Ben E. Keith Foods’ West Texas Division in Amarillo last month. After the tour, he hosted a roundtable discussion with Amarillo Mayor Debra McCartt and members of the Amarillo Economic Development Corporation and local business leaders. Senator Cornyn praised the new warehouse, opened earlier this year, as an example of growth that many businesses through Texas are seeing. The new facility added 35 jobs in Amarillo when it opened, and anticipates adding 45 more in the near future, due to new business growth. Ben E. Keith Foods, headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, is the nation’s ninth largest broadline foodservice distributor, and is comprised of six distribution centers servicing eleven states. The seventh distribution center is slated for the Houston metro area and will be completed in late 2009.
