Sweet Leaf Teas

IN THE BEGINNING

The idea for Sweet Leaf Tea was born in 1997 while Clayton was living on a sailboat in the Florida Keys. He wanted to make a ready-to-drink bottled tea that tasted as good as the home-made iced-tea that his grandmother “Mimi” used to make.

Sweet Leaf Tea’s first delivery van was purchased in 1998 with 200,000+ miles on it and it seemed to be in the garage more than on the road. Somehow, they still managed to get tea from the brewery onto store shelves.

Granny’s recipe called for premium tea leaves and pure cane surgar. Following her instructions, the first batches of Sweet Leaf Tea were brewed in Beaumont, Texas using pillow cases as tea bags and crawfish pots as brew tanks.

A year after Clayton offcially started Sweet Leaf Tea, he was joined by his best friend since childhood, David. They used garden hoses to fill the bottles, used a hand drill to put on the caps and applied the labels by hand.

Their first Austin City Limits was a huge success in 2002. They sold nearly 10,000 bottles of tea and had blisters on their hands after the 3-day event.

In 2003, Sweet Leaf Tea moved its headquarters to Austin, Texas, where Clayton and David went college.

Original

The Original Sweet Tea

This is where it all started. While we love all of our kids equally, we’ll give our first recipe its well-deserved spotlight. Actually, this one is our favorite – please don’t tell the others.

This smooth-sippin’ sweet tea is made with Granny’s blend of premium black tea leaves and pure organic cane sugar. 100% Vitamin C.

Lemon Iced Tea

The guy who watches our piggy bank, we call him Goldy, loves lemon iced tea. Says that it’s the best thing since spreadsheets. Turns out it’s popular in a lot of places, so we made a proper version for y’all.

This subtle brew is exactly how you’d make your tea all the time if you had a lemon tree in your backyard. 100% Vitamin C.

Citrus Green Tea

We always wondered why astronauts drank nasty orange powder instead of Granny’s awesome Citrus Green Tea. With 100% recommended daily goodness, ponder how much further than the moon we could have gone!

It’s like your soul just won the lottery. Seriously, try some and see how long it takes you to stop smiling. Or, have another and just keep smiling. 100% Vitamin C.

Mint & Honey Green Tea

We found this great flavor while traveling through Morocco on bicycles. Our folks weren’t very excited about the semester of class we missed, but at least we came home with the most delicious tea recipe ever – and a couple of kilim rugs for our college apartment.

Infused with flavorful spearmint leaves and a touch of honey, this organic green tea has created a cult-like following. Loaded with antioxidants (90mg EGCG) and 100% Vitamin C.

Raspberry Iced Tea

Our raspberry tea is delicious because it’s made with real honest-to-goodness tea leaves and premium natural ingredients. Then again, it’s also made by a group of folks who laugh and high-five as much as possible. We even get to bring our dogs to work – so what else would you expect?

Raspberries, black tea leaves and organic pure cane sugar unite to create this blissful flavor. Every sip tastes like summertime! 100% Vitamin C.

Peach Iced Tea

Sweet Leaf Peach

Sweet, juicy peach flavors and premium organic black tea leaves come together perfectly in this delicious Southern recipe. 100% Vitamin C.
(it’s my personal favorite…)
