Bosteels
Bosteels Brewery stands in the small village of Buggenhout. Adjoining the spacious inner courtyard, the handsome and diginified buildings rise up from the ground: the former family residence and the old whitewashed towerbrewery. The listed brewhouse is built to the designs of architect Minnaert. Inside you can discover the magnificent salon.
The brewery has been in the hands of the Bosteels for over 200 hundred years and seven generations. Their forefather, Evarist Bosteels, established the brewery in 1791. After that came Jozef, who had three sons: Frans – for thirteen years the mayor of Buggenhout – Martin and Lodewijk, of whom the first two learnt the brewer’s trade. Leon Bosteels, Martin’s son, later took over the helm, after which in 1938 Antoine Bosteels carried on the brewing dynasty as Leon’s son.
During his 50-year reign he built the brewery up with Bosteels Pils, which he sold for the first time outside the Dendermonde area in Ghent, Antwerp and Brussels. The grandfather and namesake of our host he was for his part elected Mayor of Buggenhout three times. The brewery is currently under the management of Ivo (6th generation) and his son Antoine.

Tripel Karmeliet
Blond, robust, smooth, and fruity three grain top fermented beer, refermented in the bottle. Tripel Karmeliet is still brewed to an authentic beer recipe from 1679 originating in the former Carmelite monastery in Dendermonde. Written over 300 years ago and brewed with pride and patience after Karmeliet tradition, this recipe describes the use of three kinds of grain: wheat, oats and barley. 100% natural. The name Tripel Karmeliet thus refers both to its origin and in-bottle refermentation. For many trial brews of multi-grain tripels carried out at our brewery in the 90s, it appears that the particular historic combination of the 3 kinds of grain still remains the ideal blend.

DeuS Brut des Flandres
Deus undergoes a lengthy, costly maturation in the Champagne caves of France. The elegant and labor-intensive “methode Champenoise” produces the best sparkling beverages in the world.DeuS has characteristics of both sparkling wine (fine, velvety carbonation) and specialty beer (rich maltiness) but also exhibits a fragrant, herbal and spicy character quite unique and special. Flavors of anise, mint, malt, lavender, and a barely perceptible hoppiness make DeuS a very sophisticated treat.
