Mendocino Brewing Company is internationally renowned as a brewer of full-flavored, traditional ales. The company was established in 1983 as California’s first Brewpub at Hopland and is recognized as a pioneer in the American Craft Brewing renaissance. We have two state-of-the-art breweries, one at Ukiah, 110 miles north of San Francisco and the other at Saratoga Springs, NY.

Red Tail Ale

The Legend is our flagship brand. It is brewed in the traditional “old world” manner, using premium two-row malted barley, hops and our own special proprietary yeast strain. It is an amber ale with a rich complex refreshing flavor and a crisp dry finish. Red Tail Ale is “Bottle Conditioned.” Like good wine, Red Tail Ale is a perfect complement to fine dining.


Red Tail Lager


The Legend Grows – A new member to the Red Tail Family!

Lighter in body than our Red Tail Ale, Red Tail Lager is fermented at low temperatures using our traditional lager yeast. It took 21 years to make a lager worthy of the Red Tail name. Red Tail Lager delivers a rich refreshing flavor with a smooth light feel and a clean and crisp sweet finish. Red Tail Lager is naturally hand-crafted, using only the finest ingredients: barley malt, yeast, hops, and water, resulting in a Lager Lover’s Delight!


Eye Of The Hawk

is an excellent, rich bodied ale that is “Bottle Conditioned” to perfection. “Eye” is coppery reddish-amber in color and its unique taste is the result of a judicious mix of caramel and pale malted barley, balanced with Cluster, Cascade and Saaz hops. This gives the Eye its luxurious flavor, substantial mouth-feel and that slightly dry finish. Eye of the Hawk has garnered a cult following that is enviable.


Blue Heron Pale Ale

is a delightful, medium bodied smooth ale, with a distinctive crisp mouth-feel and a fresh hoppy finish. It is brewed using premium two-row Pale malted barley, generous amounts of both Cluster bittering hops and Cascade finishing hops and our own special proprietary yeast strain. Blue Heron Pale Ale is “Bottle Conditioned.”


Black Hawk Stout

retains the big traditional flavors of an Irish-style stout and yet offers a refreshing dry crispness that is rare in many dark beers. “Bottle Conditioned” Black Hawk Stout is replete with a rich, roasted malt flavor that makes this not-so-heavy stout, creamy and ever so smooth. It has a subtlety that surprises and converts even the most reticent stout drinker.


White Hawk IPA

is a traditional IPA . We’ve blended American West Coast Cascade Hops with a very generous dose of English Fuggle Hops. This combination makes for a very aromatic character, as well as a truly authentic English flavor which you must taste to believe.
